Episode 1: Manny Sanguillén and Me
On the eve of the 50th year anniversary of the 1971 World Championship season for the Pittsburgh Pirates I was able to sit down and talk one-on- one with a key piece of that magical team, Mr. Manuel Sanguillen.
Mr. Manny is truly one of the Greats, his memories and stories will bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye.
During our conversation we had the opportunity to talk about multiple subjects, from Nolan Ryan to Pete Rose, the 1971 series and season, Manny's Bar-B-Que, golf with Jim Palmer & Arnold Palmer and much much more!
Sanguillen, also known as "Sangy" had a 13-year career (Pittsburgh & Oakland) batting .296 lifetime to add to his .986 fielding percentage. In the 1971 World Series "Sangy" batted .379 with 2 stolen bases and a double, Manny also became the 1st Latino baseball player to catch all seven games in a World Series in 1971.
This is a great interview from start to finish, over the last few years Mr. Manny and Me have become close friends and I truly hope this recording brings you as much joy to listen as it was for me to put it together. Sangy should be in the H.O.F.
LONG LIVE SANGY!
