Harvey traps Silkworm into a picnic in order to witness to him. That is, to witness an overgrowth that isn't really a garden. This NONSENSE PASSWORD trip is a very personal one for Special Character. In the future, the fate of humanity is secured only by a treaty, the Treaty of Desperation, against a malicious alien - or perhaps, supernatural - culture of greatly superior force.   Humanity got lucky, once more, having found in one of their own species an almost miraculous knack for dispatching these evil, demonic, alien beasts in an annual one-on-one contest that pits humanity's champion against the beast's champion. The terms of the treaty allows the winner's species to totally dominate planet Earth until the contest the following year, and on and on.    Ever since humanity improbably won that first year to free themselves from annihilation by the disgusting extremities and orifices of the edabs, they've changed a lot. Never before have humans been so universally kind to each other, so appreciative of the good times, and getting down a lot. The pressure of the edabs constant threat has propelled humanity into a golden age of celebration, climaxed each year by Hater-Aid. "Hater" refers to the contest, the festival of carnage featuring a no rules fight to the death, which must occur each year, and the "Aid" refers to the fundraising and the refreshing a commitment to cherishing their own lives and the well-being of each other.    For 20 years Mathis has been humanity's champion, and for 20 years he's dominated Hater-Aid, giving humanity its best years and being their magnificent hero.    But this year, the year of Hater-Aid 21, is different.    Nonsense Password presents its first trip by Special Character. Nonsense Password is an experimental podcast and Hater-Aid 21 is its first attempt at longform audiofiction, with much more on the way. This story, like all of Special Character's stories, doesn't have a genre, but elements of comedy, horror, and satire are present.
