Taking Steps - Art of Resetting
It takes courage and desire to begin the journey of achieving your goals. When I first started  the Taking Steps Podcast in the Fall of 2020, the intent was to use my education in coaching and mentorship to provide advice and tips for goal achievement and also have dynamic conversations with experts from multiple fields. Over the past 13 episodes I’ve been encouraged by many of the conversations and motivated by the honesty and candidness each guest has offered.I began a series called Dad Talk in December and then followed up with a Marriage Talk series with my wife. In those conversations I realized that I enjoy speaking and having conversation in the space of family, parenting and marriage…a challenging comfort zone. But also a space that requires insight and expertise in all the areas I set out to have conversations with the listener base. So, I’m making the decision to pivot and change the direction of the Taking Steps Podcast to focus on the family, parenting, marriage and relationships. It took me a while to become ok with changing course but I realized God called me to this space and this journey; and the more I listened to Him the more on track I would get with His intentions. My goal is the same…but the focus will be helping families, parents, spouses and future spouses reach their goals and having conversations that are honest and encouraging. When you start a goal or a project, sometimes it’s difficult to make the decision to pivot and change course. Just maintain focus on the desired outcome and plan; and be the owner of the decisions you make and be ok. Here are 3 things I’ve learned about the Art of Resetting:1. Maintain focus on your desired outcome and plan2. Be the owner of the decisions you make and be OK3. Change direction when necessary but keep the focus on your goalsLook out for and listen to the upcoming episode of the Taking Steps Podcast (link on homepage) for more on the Art of Resetting and if you and your family are in need of coaching services to help with your family plan and goals, don’t hesitate to set up a time with me to talk and get started on reaching your desired state.

Taking Steps EP 1
Guest: NoneHost/Contributor: Krishon AllenWelcome and thank you for listening to episode 1 of the Taking Steps podcast, I am Krishon Allen and I will be your host and main contributor. Taking Steps is a podcast geared toward having conversations that motivate and challenge the listener to accomplish their goals, change perceptions, and learn something new. Taking Steps will also feature dynamic guest contributors from the worlds of finance, business, fitness, politics, and faith to provide practical tips and advice for our listeners.A little about me (and hopefully over the course of the podcast and our conversations you will learn more) I’m a husband to my wife Danielle of 13 years and we have two daughters, who are growing way too fast. I am a Christian and try my best to guided by my faith – starting this podcast is one of those faith guided moments. I have a master’s in organizational leadership with a focus in coaching and mentoring, which is at the core of what I want to ultimately do with my life for both mission and at some point profession.Obviously if you are listening to this in 2020 you know the crazy times that we are living in but a byproduct and blessing of all of this is the time I have been given. Time with my wife and kids, time to talk with family and friends (probably more than I have in the past 3 years combined), and time to attempt to do something that is productive and beneficial. One common thing through much of the current time has been the presence of fear – not the false evidence appearing real kind of fear – but legitimate fear towards a possibly deadly virus, job loss, lack of income support, and not knowing when things will get better. But I think there is a hope, if fear is defined – what you can tackle can be tackled – peace becomes an intentional part of your daily routine – and love is given to those around you.I believe fear does three things (of course there are variables between people) delays, fatigues, and limits 3 Steps to TakeStop, breathe, relax and find time restTake action – do one thing that kick starts your goal or changes your situation. One action is momentum – one box checked is an accomplishmentBelieve life is good – things may never look perfect (whatever that is) but your outlook will determine your outcome – challenge builds strength – and being honest about your challenges/your situation – will determine how you can factually and intentionally improve itI ask that you take this journey with us, let’s take these steps together. Let’s be encouraged by those who share their experiences, wisdom, and challenges with us. And ultimately let’s succeed together in reaching our goals and achieving our greatness. Let’s go!
