Need a hand getting the most out of your computer? Help is at hand
Anthropic, a rival to OpenAI, has released an improved version of its AI, Claude 3.5, which can now interact with applications on a user’s computer. This new capability, through a "use computer" API, allows Claude to perform actions like keystrokes, clicks, and mouse movements, essentially mimicking a human user. Claude can learn from the processes occurring on the screen and utilize tools within the computer to complete tasks.
This technology has potential for automating many tasks and could be used, for example, to manage browser preferences and even help with booking flights. While still in early stages, this technology promises a future where AI agents can manage various tasks on our behalf. However, privacy concerns remain regarding the information collected from users’ screens, and Anthropic acknowledges the potential for this data to be shared with authorities.
